I found a sporterized L-E at my local gun store and was thinking of picking it up for a restore. It seems only the stock was cut. Barrel sill has the bayonet lugs and complete front sight. Rear Mk4 sight (I think). 5-groove barrel, No D&T, No FTR markings. Unsure if the numbers match or the bolt head number as I am wanting to go back for a closer inspection.

Whats the going rate?

And what's the going rate for a stock set?

Max $150 for the rifle, stock set plus bits and pieces could be around the $200 mark unless you're patient and wait for deals.

FTR markings can sometimes be very light, so look close if it's important to you.

I don't know about stock sets. One of our Gunnutz recently gave me $180 for a restoreable Savage No.4. I think that meant I actually got $150 for it after shipping costs. It depends on how much you want it and what you think the restoration costs will be. I wouldn't undertake such a project to sell it, but if I didn't already have an original No.4Mk.2 to shoot I think I'd give up to $200 for one I could restore for that purpose.

My policy is to buy any restoreable No.4 or No.1 that I come across if I will be able to put it on the EE for not more than $150 without losing money. And I'll let them go for less if I can just so other Gunnutz who want one can have them and so the rifles get saved.

Yeah... I won't get it for $150. On consignment for $215 taxes in.

I looked over the reciver and no FTR to be seen. Oddly I didn't check to see of the numbers match. I did look at the bore and looks like it was put away wet (no shine and chunks of powder resedue) but the rifling did look good. I'll give it a closer inspection and if it all matches including the mag along with a #1 bolt head I'll probably take it.
