1950 336RC overhaul pics*RANGE UPDATE*

I'm interested in how the DC is going to hold up in the wear areas such as near the lever pivot and so forth.

Keep us updated!

Nice work.

To what do you attribute the improvement in group size? I wouldn't think that smoothing the action would/should affect accuracy unless in rapid fire. Did you smooth the trigger? Tighten or otherwise change the stock fit?

I have a 1949 Marlin 336A. Slug knows that. ;)

I am guessing Mikey laid a bead of RTV between the mag tube and the barrel under the forestock. This trick has worked on a couple of my full-length mag tubed Marlins that were acting-up accuracy wise. It acts as a harmonic dampener and can tighten groups as well as help with stringing. Good job by the way Mikey! We can't all be as lucky as to own a near minty original like Crazey Davey.

a few things can be attributed to the accuracy increase i think. first off sun and steel 77 is right, i did run a bead of high heat silicone btwn the bbl and mag. i also gave it a new crown a couple weeks ago. the rifle also had a bent forestock pin which was causing all sorts of issues, not the least of which was a wandering POI. i also smoothed the trigger full #### notch and sear with an extra fine bastard file to a depth of .018, with a trigger pull of about 2.5 lbs, and bedded the stocks to prevent any movement. all of these things helped with accuracy, and i actually did not smooth the action at all. that was done for me by the 60 years of use before i aquired it.
