Hey - quick question for you guys - is there a meaning or reason for a dab of paint on the muzzle end of the BBL on a longbranch?

The bottom 1/2 of the muzzle on the rifle I just bought has a touch of green paint. Is this "period" for the rifle or has someone done something retarded since it was built?

If so what would be the best way to remove it?

How about it's dabbed on for rust prevention?

......... or

How about:

Green = Safe to shoot
Yellow = Safe to shoot in an emergency
Red = Unsafe to shoot

I've seen both of these explanations someplace, but I can't remember where...... :redface:

Badger
