Back in 2017, I bought a 50 with a spike bayonet. I shortly after posted it in SKS-Files forum and it started a debate if there were actually spikes installed on 50's. It was only later that documentation on a different post that mention spikes of 50's. When talking about rarity, I consider it on the list as it was only manufactured for 32 days or less in 1950. If you look at the last couple paragraphs of the post below, you will see.

You can see it in the notch of the stock if it was made for a spike bayonet. It has to be dead center and not wiggle around. I am not sure about the bayonet itself but pretty sure they are different than the Chinese ones.

see 4.d. during my research , i found that spike in 1950 wasnt rare.

One month or less of production in 1950 with a spike bayonet and I would think that some of the production lines were already converted to blade. I have seen lots of 50's with a blade, but very, very few with spikes.

The Russians were anything if not practical..They would have used the parts they had on hand before replacement/upgrade of new mfg..I've seen more 49's here then 50's with the quad spike bayonet....but they do exist...

i dont know if the word is practical but i think it was their system to replace old with new design only when ever the old runs out so it may run out in any month. eg: receiver changed part 1952, bayo lug part 1952, chrome bore part 1951, gas tube latch part 1954 etc so who really knows? not much attention on paid on these items bcos they arent obvious, not like the bayo.

Back in May of 2018, I recorded changes made in 1950. I posted this in SKS-Files forum.
I have been interested in the way the 50s changed. Thanks to info from various experts, I have tried to follow this change.
1. 50 with all 49 features including spike bayonet. This was in question until documentation was presented and another 50 with spike was found.

2. 50 with 49 features including a spike bayonet, but with a 45 degree gas port instead of 90 degree gas port.

I don't think the Russians cared at the time that happy pakrats in the western world would be trying to ferret out every little detail about production of the Siminov....I'd think they'd use up inventory and move forward with modifications as they were approved....either way,'49 and '50 are uncommon and collectible....
