1950r Russian SKS fills the void. How did i do?

This is what a chrome lined barrel will look like. Note the chrome ring at the muzzle. This ring is noticeable even if the muzzle as been re crowned. You can also look at the chamber to tell if its chrome lined or not. Yours isn't chrome lined which is correct for 1950. My 1950 was more accurate than my chrome lined 1954 but that 1950 wore out so fast I couldn't believe it.

what do you mean by wore out so fast? like a few crates?

By the end of the 2nd crate you could tell the groups were opening up. By the end of the 3rd crate she went from 3.5" - 4" to 5.5" - 6". I have no idea how many rounds where fired though it before I got it but it was refurbished and looked heavily used. That 3rd crate could of been its 5000th round or its 10,000th round.

Also when it was coming to the end there, the rifle had consistent failures to feed and was stovepiping live rounds. Apparently it was because the one of the rials the bolt carrier road on was worn out lower than the other. Again, this rifle looked heavily used when I got it so your mileage will more than likely be better than mine as yours looks really nice.

hmmm well im thinking this one might just get a good sight in at 100 yards, and then hang out in the safe, i have a chinese that just rocks, and was my first rifle. im not sure how many sks's a guy needs, but i know that no i do want another russian with a chrome barrel.

Im actually surprised to hear this tho, i wonder what that says for my cz858? non-chrome lined. I have a crate through it at the very least, and is shooting 2-3 inch groups at 100yards and hasn't changed since it was new. although, ....... it may never be fired again .....and the accuracy of a paper weight dont matter much..

hrmmmm.... i bought a 1950 laminate refurb that was advertised as a chrome lined barrel. I will have to go home and check it out because i don't recall it looking like that pic!

Also your rifle has the early style spring loaded firing pin. I've had a couple of 1950s, all good, no issues.

I bought two 1950 SKS inthe last few weeks. One had a spring loaded pin the other didn't.
Both have black bolts (silver carrier), all numbers match other than the magazine.

SKS' are like a box of chocolates.......
