1953 sks non refurb not issiued to clean or not

so I just got a nice all matching Russian sks 1953 dated never issued and I have no intention of shooting it

its got some grease/oil on it should I clean it or leave it as is and rack it?

If you plan to resell it, a rifle still covered in cosmoline may fetch a small premium over ones that have been cleaned. I clean all of mine, at least somewhat.

If you aren't planning on shooting it I'd leave the cosmoline on it. It's done a good job preserving it thus far and will continue to for many more years.

all you have to do is buy another one to shoot then you won't want to shoot the collector, that way you get to keep buying more guns, and SKS' never run out of fun

Can't stand the smell? Each to their own I guess. Personally I love the smell of the cosmo coming out when the gun gets hot.

Haha, luckily I don't ever have to ask for either. I married a keeper, my personal money is mine to spend as I see fit, her personal money is hers. Our joint account pays the bills, never any headaches.

I wipe the outside down so they can be handled, but leave the innards in Cosmo.

I have a 1953 Izhevsk I got 3years ago that is still in the bag it came in. No plans on cleaning anything out of it.
