hi everyone.. just wanted to get any info on this wood "gun case" , at least that's what it looks like. but what or which kind of rifle? Markings are " GK 49550 // EIS 6(or G)51 O (or D)/OCT 55// KIT NO 2G/4S " with 2G/4S covered over and in black marker (?), handwritten 8/2044 inside is stamped, LACHUTE LUMBER, September 1957
and any idea of value? i may be selling it thx

Judging by the EIS (Equipment In Service) painted on the lid I would say the box was used to hold the parts or stores for a system rather then a weapon system itself. A weapons "EIS" was all the stuff that would go along with it such as, sling, mags, cleaning kit, bayonet. Beyond this I can add no further.
