Good day all

I was hoping to find an owner of a J.C. Higgins (High Standard) model 60 semi auto shotgun. I purchased one last fall and I've only been able to disassemble the shot to the gas port area. I have removed the wavy washers and nut to clean the the gas port holes but I would like to disassemble the gas port itself to give it a good cleaning (I shot sporting clays once a week) at the end of the gas port looks like a nut but its round with holes in it.
So, do I need a special tool to fit it or can I use an alternate from my tool box with out damaging it?
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks for your time

Guns Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly Part V Shotguns. My version is 1980. An updated ( with many more models) is currently available under the same title.

Thanks! Even if I don't have 99% of what the book covers...I always enjoy thumbing through and seeing how things go together :)
