1960’s Weaver V8 worth saving?

I got this old vintage scope. Is it worth saving? Was quoted between $50-150 to resurrect it depending on internal condition. No rust, reticle is very fine and ok, optics are clear the portions that are not cloudy, a couple of tiny whiskers in it:p Probably just needs a clean and nitrogen charge. So say on the high end plus shipping both ways I’ll be into it for $200, low end about $100. Save or try to recreate the Carlo Hathcock shot:p Thoughts?

Vintage scopes, in nice shape, always look nice on vintage rifles of the same time period.

To me, that would be the only purpose to restore that oldie.

I collected up 8 old weavers for my martinis and sent them off to trace that needed work they cost more to repair than buying new vortex scopes with better glass .But for the purpose of putting them on the vintage rifles is why I had done it.

That is a neat older optic. If you have the means to save it, go for it! As mentioned, a vintage optic looks much more at home on an older, properly blued rifle.

I love the look and feel of old scopes. Id do it, if it was me and for an older gun. I like stuff to be period correct. I have some early 1900's scopes that cost more then new ones. They are not clear and lack windage adjustment but perfect for early 1900 sporting rifles

Another 50 years and that scope will be as cool as these
