Hi everybody, just wanted to share the result of my minty 1980's Marlin 39A with a new stock from Boyds. Was really surprised how well the stock matched the metal with no fitting required. Great buy. Impressed with the final look. It Gives a new look to this classic without breaking the bank. Will be ready for rabbit/grouse hunting. Mounted with a Nikon Prostaff 2X7X32. What you think of it? And what is your rimfire for varmint hunting?

I think it looks wicked, congrats! Does it feel heavier with the laminate than it did with walnut? Reason I ask, I only replaced 1 stock with a Boyd's and I loved it...but the weight did increase.

My main varmint rifle (.22LR) is a CZ452 Varmint. Granted, the varmints I shoot with it are gophers and the odd pigeon. For grouse~shotgun only. Here in the southern part of Ontario...odds are against you getting grouse at all, even with a shotgun. :)

Yeah this little .22 now have a look that kills! Yes it's true that it weight a bit more. When I'm hunting small game I always bring a .22 with my main upland SXS, I love the combinaison, shot possibility. I use the backpack Eberlestock Gunrunner since 2012. Rimfire in the back, SXS in hands, when I spot a shot opportunity for my .22, I just switch and try it! I hunt grouse and rabbit with my main gun 12ga Ithaca SKB 400 but I'm always happy to try long shots with my 39A. Here in northern Quebec, there are plenty of hares and grouses, it's fun to shoot and meat is good.

Your Marlin looks great with the Boyd's stock. I just put a Boyd's laminated thumbhole on my CZ452 Varmint.
I love it and I did not mind the weight increase at all. I use it and a Ruger Kidd 10/22 to hunt targets.
I should try some real hunting this year. I would choose my Eatonia Model 39 for that task due to the reduced weight.
