Last winter we had a basement flood and a good friend came over and we took apart every single piece of every single gun I owned, cleaned and oiled everything and it took us about a day. I'm putting back together the last of them and I can't get the bolt back into the Ruger. I have the bolt cocked and the extractor is lined up properly but the little square piece on the bottom of the striker part hits the safety when it's on fire but the bolt won't go in when the safety is on safe. I've looked online and watched a bunch of videos and they were all stupid and didn't address my problem. Has anyone run into this before I take apart the trigger group off, put it together and reassemble?

Thank you. This one was my dad's rifle and I haven't had it for very long and I don't know it that well yet.

It's been a while since I've owned one, but if the safety is the type that locks the bolt down it will likely have to be in the "fire" position for the bolt to go back in.

since there are only two positions for the tang position to be in... one of those positions should allow the bolt...

The problem may lie with, "a good friend came over and we took apart every single piece of every single gun".

It's a fairly simple rifle... but you are going to have to figure out what's wrong... hard to do over the forum.
