My dad is getting his Fox refurbed, and he's been looking for a set of gloss rings to match up with a Leupold scope. The Fox has just a plain 19mm dovetail...not cutouts or anything for recoil lugs on the rings.

He's found Leupold rings at local shops, but they all have recoil lugs that would need to be ground off. Can anyone recommend a set that will fit without needing to be tweaked?

The Fox is chambered in .222, so I don't think the lack of lug will negatively affect things...there's not much recoil there to start with.

Are you sure they are 19mm??

The Brno Fox (ZKB680??) and the Hornet ZK465 had the 16mm rail like the current CZ 527, and not the larger 19mm.

Most of the 16mm rings don't have a recoil lug, except the Warnes that have one that hooks on the rear face of the front bridge

I had him measure it...19mm across the top flat. When I googled 'BRNO Fox 19mm dovetail' I found a few threads indicating early Foxes had 19mm dovetails. Seems BSA/Parker-Hale rings, or some mucking with some 550 19mm rings. Buy two sets and use the fronts (no lug on the fronts), or machine the lug from the back one...seems the easiest fix.

Interesting. I never knew they changed that dovetails on the small brno actions.

In that case, all of the 19mm rings have the lug, though I wouldn't let 5 minutes with a file and some cold blue stop me.

The Parker Hale rings will have a stud in the bottom that will need to be removed, and are ugly to boot.

Yep, that's my thoughts too. He's got a set of Leupold rings that he likes the look of, and I agree...getting rid of the lug should be a piece of cake.

Could you post a picture of the FOX with 19mm flat top mounts, if you could, never heard of these and I have collected and shot BRNO/CZ's for the last 20 years. Real neat to here of a model with irregular features, cheers Dale Z!

Lol, I sent him out to get a picture, and he came back telling me that it is a 16mm instead. He had measured the rings that he took off of it, which were 19mm...probably for a 550 or something. Nothing like asking for pictures to get someone to verify their measurements.

Sorry to get you excited :)

So, regular 527 rings should work then, if the recoil lug is removed.
