1K AR, build or buy

I bought my first one to learn the platform. After that I built my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th.... Consider yourself warned....

Buying outright will probably be cheaper and hold its value better than a gun that is pieced together. That being said building an AR is fun at least for me and allows you to build up a gun with the parts you want. We will be bringing in some decently priced good quality Aero uppers and lowers you may want to consider for a build. I have also saved money on builds by buying parts from the EE like stocks, etc that people have stripped off their guns when they have upgraded parts.

Build, and personally I didn't buy any specialty tools. Barrel torque is between 30 to 80 ft lbs, a huge variance that does not require accurate measure. Parts are fun to source.

Can somebody break down for me how you can build a $1,000 AR?
Mine cost over 2 times and nearly 3 to build.

Use basic, cheap and/or used parts. You can build one for $800, or you can build one for $5000 depending on what you're trying to achieve. That's the beauty of this platform.

Just looked over your shopping list there DILLIGAF, did you order the entire Brownells list at once, or was this back when the limit was $100 and do multiple orders?
I didn't know we could order some of those parts without import papers...I'm rethinking some of my planned purchases now! :)
