1st coyote of season

3rd set/stand of the season and this ugly looking coyote came in after about 12 min mark. I did not see him emerge from the bush so he caught me off guard (looking the other way). As I shifted for the shot, he seen me and started to turn and take off. Shot him on the run quartering away at about 60 yds... Time of death was 11:15 am, sun shinning like crazy, I guess he was hungry....

Congrats on the great shooting! Good call on the rubber gloves when handling that poor mangy creature. I have shot several all mangy like that and I do not like handling them at all. I pull them off the field and ditch them at my earliest convenience, they don't go in the truck and certainly don't come home. And I make sure to wash up really well afterwards, I don't want to transfer anything like that to my pups at hime.

I’ve put a few of those mangy things on the burn pile. 1 was so hairless it was using a silage pit for warmth. Death was a relief.
