Great time at our Club in Calgary. 7 throwers, all remote controlled and fast. Tried it once 20 years ago when the bird throwers were much slower and managed about 15 with my 1100. Now I have a lovely O/U and am not even close at about 7/25. The birds are faster and I'm now retired so I'll use that as an excuse. Hope to get alot better before I spend my pension on shells. Great group of guys. Not many young guys though. Maybe too expensive. Hope not.

7 throwers and 25 shells. Sounds like 5 stand more then sporting clays. However practice will pay off once you mentally establish the leads in your head your scores will greatly improve. Happy shooting

If your in calgary I recommend Making a trip to grande prairie next may for there cabin fever shoot. It's one of the best shoots I've been to I make the trip every year although I am a little closer then you. But it's a 2 day 360 bird shoot and it's well worth the trip.

I've only shot clay's twice so far (I'm 25) neither time at a club. We just go out in a Field, throwing by hand and with the cheap "Chuck-it" style thrower, but I had so much fun doing it I've managed to convince quite a few friends to try and my Gf now wants to come out and give it a go. Great way to spend an afternoon :D

How Much is it to do a round at one of the club's around Calgary? I've been thinking of trying an actual trap shoot.

Calgary Shooting Center.

In Dewinton is a great place to shoot all 3 diciplines and you don't have to be a member. $7. a box for 12ga. and $10. for 25 birds. They even have a few rental shotguns. You do need a PAL or go with someone who has a PAL. Very nice place with friendly staff. Another place is the Calgary Target and District gun club in Shepard but you have to be a member and they arn't taking new members till 2013. They shoot 5 Stand every friday at 1pm, weather permitting. Don't ask me where they were yesterday!!!

Skeet today!

Wow do I suck but what a hoot. Then went over and shot Trap just to get some confidence back. So much easier. Got 16/25 which is OK for me since I only started. All good though. Gonna try 5 stand again soon. Sucked at that too, last time. The fellows are all giving me pointers which is helping, slowly. Seems my biggest problem is not shouldering my gun high enough and shooting over top of the clays.

Five stand is a lot of fun.. Where in Calgary can you do clay shooting? I always go out to Carstairs because it was the closest I could find.

AHEIA has a range at Dewinton, just south of calgary, it has trap, skeet and 5 stand. I believe they are working on putting in a sporting clays course.

RED CAT,
You can get that cost down to about $6.00/round if you become an associate member. It is a little over $100.00 per year and part of it goes as a donation to aheia. The club is open Wednesday to Sunday.

I am hooked to clay shooting. Started at trap a few months back, moved to skeet, love it! Shot 5 stand for the first time last weekend... hell ya that's fun - and I'm doing all of it with a pump action and getting the odd double, Love it!
