I will try and give a break down of costs for our trip best I can....
Airfare - $ 3000-4000 each depending on various factors.
Transfer - $US 450 each way from camp
Daily rate - $US 300-400 per day depending on 2 on 1 or 1 on 1
Trophy Fees - $US as much as you have or can afford (ours averaged $900 per animal)
and then the dip & pack and the shipping home will come later.
Now that was for the Plains Game portion....
The Dangerous Game portion....
Additional airfare in country - $US 550 per person
Cape Buffalo packages - $ 13 000 including trophy fee for 7 days
Plus the shipping of the trophy home etc.
and then it is just a couple days in the hotel before and after that trip.
My trip was slightly different since we hunted hippo and croc and had extra days. But that is a rough break down.
When I started to work on this trip we decided that if we were going, then we were going to do everything that we wanted. Since the airfare to get over there is the same whether you are there for 7 days or 30. I figured lets make it count, and do as much as we could.
Most people start with a plains game hunt or 2 and then go after some of the bigger stuff. I was not waiting that long...
A PG hunt is way cheaper than DG....you get more animals and basically you are already set up for it aslong as you have a basic rifle.
The DG is more expensive and gets more so once you have to start adding in the extra rifles if you don't have a 375 or bigger, since that is the minimum in most places.
The extras that we had to buy were a couple airline quality gun cases. And then we went and bought a new camera and big zoom lense plus all that goes with that....
That started to get pricey.....but a person wouldn't have to do that.
