I'm curious if anyone has experience running a 1x prism scope with a 3x or 6x magnifier? Primary Arms' literature says that their prism is compatible with their magnifiers but Vortex says theirs aren't. Granted that the technology in both those prisms is no different, I don't see why it would work in one but not the other. I get that you can't run a magnifier with a magnified prism as you'd get all kinds of parallax issues but other than maybe eye relief problems, it would seem that you should be able to run a 1x prism with a magnifier? My interest in this stems solely from the fact that apparently I have an astigmatism and while quality red dots' (Aimpoints) reticles look ok to me at 1x, with a 6x magnifier it's a mess, haha.

Eye relief is shorter than a strike eagle 1-6 for example (online specs 2.4" 3x vs 3.5" vortex), but definitely manageable for me. I grabbed one to try since it seems I may have some issues with astigmatism as well. Happy so far. Actually grabbed one of their slx 3x prisms as well. Not sure that one's going to work for me so may end up selling that one.

I do know on the Vortex website they state prism sights don't work with magnifiers, it's a real bummer as I have a few spitfires and would like some more zoom

The other thing to consider is eye relief. The prism would have to be forward enough to mount the magnifier behind it. You might not get the best sight picture with a prism mounted that forward. The primary arms 3x magnifier has an eye relief of 2.4” and a length of 2.83”. This leaves the prism with a minimum eye relief of 5.23” when not magnified. The eye relief listed for a pa 1x micro prism is 3.6” with a usable range of 2-7 inches. The vortex spitfire is listed with an eye relief of 3.7”.
