I have an old Ithaca SxS in 20 gauge, serial number puts it about 1911. Chambers are 2 1/2 inch. Is there a Canadian source for ammo for this thing. In B.C. would be preferable. I’d like to use it for grouse next year, but short of building my own shot shells I can’t seem to track any down.

Prophet River possibly , the 20 gauge 21/2” I owned came with a set of Lee’s hand dies that had been shortened , but I also have an adapter plate for my MEC loaders so I can load 2 1/2” 12, 16 or 20 just by by installing the plate - takes seconds for the plate then a few minor adjustments for the load.

RST makes 2 1/2" 20 gauge shells in a large variety of flavours. Prophet River is their distributor and will get you what you want from the RST line up and price it quite competitively with the US price when exchange is factored in. If it's not in stock it can take a while.

Another source is your local Kent dealer. Kent has access to Gamebore 2 1/2" shells out of the UK in 20, 16, and 12 gauge. In 20 or 16 gauge, they're sold under the "Traditional Game" label. As well as being 2 1/2", these shells are designed to lower pressures than contemporary shells and employ traditional felt wads (allowing the chokes in vintage guns to operate as designed).

These also show up occasionally at the larger gun shows such as Chilliwack and Kamloops. I have a few boxes and might bring them to the Chilliwack show to sell. Then a nice 2 1/2" gun will turn up almost immediately.

Been in the safe for awhile. Be nice to get it out and use it. Believe it’s a flues field grade. Nice and light be nice to carry.

I checked prophet rive they list it on their website. Thx everyone for your help.

I just spoke with Kent about Gamebore 2 weeks ago.

They will order Gamebore stuff from the UK catalogue but they are no longer stocking or bringing in on spec. Imagine a once a year shipment.
