2 3/4" and 3" guns...which can shoot which?

Ok, quick question..sorry if it's been asked a million times before, but the search feature of the forum sucks.

What I want to know is, if a shotgun says it is 3" can it also shoot 2 3/4" shells or does it specifically have to say 2 3/4 AND 3"?

I ask because I am looking at a Mossberg 500 Persuader 3" and would like to know if I can shoot both. It would be nice to have that flexibility, but if not...oh well...still be nice to know either way.

Yes if it is a 3" gun it can shoot 2 3/4 also.
