Hey all,

This summer we are looking into running a 2 day introductory carbine course(s) for civilian shooters looking to develop their rifle skills.

This course is targeted towards individuals who have no formal training and would like to learn the shooting fundamentals. It would be a great starting point for an individual who wants to move on to something like an SMC basic carbine etc. It will be open to anyone so long as they are vetted for attendance. The course will be instructed by professionally trained individuals with mil/LE background and instructional experience.

There will be a short classroom portion followed by about a day and a half on the range. Essentially it will be a static range (ie no movement by the shooters), content will essentially include:

-Basic Range safety
-zeroing your rifle.
-Marksmanship Principals
-Basic Firing positions
-Some simple drills to pull the course together at the end.

Price: TBD but in the range of $300 per person.
Location: TBA - I'm hoping one in ALTA, Manitoba and possibly east.
Timings: TBD, just working around the schedules of instructors etc.

What you will need:
-Semi Auto rifle, mag fed is better but your stripper clip fed variety (see SKS) is fine.
-Minimum of 4 mags if using a mag fed rifle.
-About 400 rounds of ammo
-Chest rig, belt whatever you need to carry your reloads on the line.
-good attitude.

If your interested then drop me an email expressing your interest and your province so we can lay out regional interest.

How about a Intermediate/Advanced for Alta?
Myself and my shooting buddy are already well up and practiced with all the prone positions, support side transition/shooting, transition to secondary, admin/tac/speed loads, etc. etc. etc. etc.

location in Alberta would determine my interest, can you elaborate on when and where? I don't need exact dates and places but month and city would help.

Alberta guys stay tuned, tentative depending on my schedule and range availabilty, SMC Consulting will run another carbine course or two over the summer.

Interested in the AB course, but as a Sask. flatlander, MB is possible too. I sent RTactical an email via the CGN 'Send Email' page, but I'm not sure how reliable that is, so I am posting this here too.

If you have responded to this thread but not emailed me then please do so.

For Alta we're looking to do it within an hours drive of Edmonton.

This course is for shooters who are either newer to the sport, no basic professional training and/or are looking to learn the fundamentals. The idea here is to properly prepare shooters for something like SMC's basic carbine. For you shooters who feel you are skilled and safe enough for a basic carbine Then I highly recommend SMC's training and will likely see you there too :D.

come east please!

our range (mid-north ontario, 3hrs from Toronto) would be happy to host something like this!

We are pretty well full for one course in Alta, just over half for MB and may be able to justify a course in ON.

Currently for ALta we are seeking a range that will suit for June, if anyone knows of a suitable place send me an email.

is this based on people that have made a deposit or simply said they will attend?
