Well, just got back from a 10 day stint in two areas. Targets were Elk, Muleys and Moose (LEH) First leg of the hunt found us in the Peace River country. 4 days hunting there yielded a nice fat Cow Elk and a decent antlerless Muley (partner shot the muley) I did see a monster Black Bear in a harvested Oat field, but he was lucky this time.
Next leg, south of PG for a Muley & Moose hunt. My partners this time were a Father and two sons (aged 12 & 14) Very nice boys, and both good shots. First animal taken was my LEH cow Moose. The boys and their dad chased 4 Muleys into a patch of woodland adjacent to a slash, and while they were moving around there, the Moose decided it was time to leave that timber. Guess where she went? Right out in the slash, about 150 yards from where I happened to be. She was on a mission, didn't want to stop moving, but finally took a rest behind a patch of willows. I found an open patch about 5" in diameter just at the rear of the front leg, and sent a 180 from my 8x57 M700 Classic her way. Two steps and she was down!! (I love this rifle!) Big cow, dry, and 40 feet from a road that gave access! Shot was fired at 7:50 AM opening day, talk about spoiling a hunt! LOL. :D
Over the next three days, saw some more Moose, but either not legal, or no time to take the shot. The boys each took a Muley, one doe, one forkhorn, one shot each. One was packing a 270, the other a 700 Classic in 257 Roberts (Formerly my rifle). Finally Sunday AM found our second cow Moose exposed to a clear shot and one shot from my pal's 30-06 did the job. She managed to turn 180º and then collapsed. She was a bit more of a challenge to get out, since she was on a river flat well down from the main land surface. Quad helped though. Shot was fired at 8:20 AM, meat was in camp by 3:30 PM. All in all, a great trip, with a lot of memories made.
One more short trip to come....three day muley Buck hunt in the Cariboo. Then It will be over till Predator time in the snow season. Big guns go into storage, and the Swift and 6mm come out. Regards, Eagleye.

Happy for your success... great story.

As I was reading and noticed you refered to the Cow as "dry" I could not help but to smile and wonder how many people read it and think "hmm, must of not been raining I guess"

LOL
