2 Lee-Enfields 303. Bolt action

Seeing that I dont have much history on Lee-Enfields I have 2 that have been in the back of my safe and havent seen any action.Both have lots of proof marks and any help would be nice.1 is marked US Property.Both are in fine shape and have good smooth action.I will be looking for a value as well.1 is also a mark 4?

The top one is a No.1 Mk III SMLE, the bottom one is a No. 4 MkI (likely built late in WWII judging by the rear sight). Post up some pictures of the markings. We will be able to tell you more.
 
These Lee-Enfields have lots of proof marks.One is marked US Property and the other seems to have british marks.Give me a short list of what you need and I will post today.Any idea of the value of the rifles?Thanks Samson
 
Hi Samson,

The top one is a Lee Enfield No1 Mk3*. If you look on the right side of the butt socket (the area hidden by the bolt handle on the top picture), you will find the information that matters: THe manufacture date, and the arsenal (where it was built).

The bottom one is a Savage-made Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 (is there a * beside that?). The rear sight is typical of this Savage-built No4, while most other arsenals did fit a different type of rear sight. Year of manyfacture should be somewhere; over the serial number on the left side of the butt socket, or on the barrel / receiver?

Value: well, typically, a number-matching (bolt, barrel, receiver) sporterized Lee Enfield sells from $100 to $150.

I didnt think that there was much of a market for Lee-Enfields($100-150),not these ones anyway.I have enclosed some proof marks.thanks Samson
 
The The savage is a No4Mk1*, You can see the lack of the bolt release latch and the notch cut out for the bolt head. It has a Mk2 rear sight. 72C what's that in 1943 - 44 ish, can't make out the stamp?
 
Full military wood or Bubba'd?
Do the bolt serial #'s match the receiver serial #'s?

If full original wood, and all matching the $150.00 is about half of a low asking price.

But if the woods been chopped, regardless of serial #'s she's a $125.00 beater.
