Question the first:

Is the Mauser K98 bayonet designed to fit over the cleaning rod or do you remove the rod?

Question the second:

What is the total length of an ORIGINAL K98 sling?

Do you want to put a Mauser bayo on your Norinco TU?

If yes, it doesn't fit directly, it needs a little bit of modding,
but I don't know exactly what.
I've seen one in a gunstore and they said it was modded,
otherwise it doesn't fit.

If that wasn't your original intention, disregard all of the above.

You are seeing through my smoke and mirrors.

I will have to mod it I think. It looked to me like it should fit over the cleaning rod but it didn't... lousy Indian made stuff. Also, I found that the Norinco bayonet lug was machined much too big for it to fit...ever.

I also bought some slings but they seem to be a perfect length for the JW-25 which is odd because K98 slings are usually too long for it.

I asked myself if the bayo would fit, but didn't (don't) have one.
I have seen the modded one when I bought my norc
in Lever's shop, it belongs to somebody from the store.
But again, I don't know what the mod consists of.

If the lug is too big, too small, whatever,
it comes apart completely and with some patience,
somebody can mod it.

If you want to make a completely new one, it should be easy.
Only the curved surface (channel) where it matches the barrel
would be a little harder.
Basically, it's a piece of sqare bar stock with
3 machined channels, a notch and a hole, IIRC.

Also, if you make a new lug, the hole for the pin should be made the last:
Put it on the gun (with the bayo), determine the best position,
mark (thru the wood and band) the location of the holes in the lug
from both sides, take it out and drill it.
Theoretically it shouldn't be hard,
but I guess it requires time and patience.

I know nothing about the slings.
In the long thread from the last winter,
there was some info about some (yugo???) sling.

I imagine the slings would be a perfect fit for a G33/40 as well.

I have fitted Kar98 parts to Norincos before and it is possible. I could just get a real bayonet lug and fit it on there. I was going to fit some real K98 bands and a spring too since they hold a lot better than pins.
