over the years, i must have heard about a thousand stories like that- as to how many are true, i would surmise less than 1%- best one i heard of was a super-secret base in ak interior with b-17s and p38s that were transported up there via the ak highway and never used- a whole base- quonsets, kitchens ,psp, you name it- and just abandoned at the end of the war- cost too much bring it back- well, i should imagine that there are STILL folks looking for that one- like the lost lemon mine.
Your no doubt right, but don't forget that only a small portion of the art, gold, antiques, etc., that the Nazis looted from Europe has been recovered; so there are still big stashes of goodies out there somewhere, and it's not inconcevible that the Nazis hid away some it's premier jet fighters to hopefully use later.
We can always dream anyway.
