20 ga defender style??

I have a friend looking to buy a 20 ga defender style shotgun. 18.5-19" barrel, pistol grip, plus also a full stock.

However, he would like it in 20 guage. I haven't been able to find a 20 ga with a short barrel, shortest was 24".

Is there options other than cutting down a barrel?

The Rem 870 Express Slug gun comes in 20 gauge with an 18.5" rifled barrel. The 870 Express Compact comes with a 21" and 18" vent rib barrel with modified and full chokes. 870 barrels are relatively easy to find. Likely not so much for a 20 guage. Remington brand barrels are not exactly cheap though.
The pistol grip will be an aftermarket thing. Mind you, a pistol grip only shotgun is the most useless thing on Earth. A stock with a pistol grip isn't.
 
20g, You can get the 870 Home Defense in 20g, comes with an 18.5" barrel and 2 rd extension. You'd have to buy the pistol grip seperate if that's what he really wants.

Can't think of any factory 20g that come with a one piece full length mag tube like the defender has.
 
mossberg makes a couple differnt styles of defender in 20 gauge either a regular stock or pistol grip and the even make it in .410 all in the modle 500
 
Doesn't that seem kind of silly? I mean, if you're defending yourself don't you want the most defense possible?

why on earth is one of my shotties with just a PG useless? i have both... and for backpacking and such its great? and aiming it isnt hard at all either? i dont get what your trying to say here?
 
Thanks guys. The guys wife thinks she may want to shoot it from time to time, thus 20ga.

As for pistol grip, I used to shoot one quite accurately, but it did require lots of practice. Just held at eye level and sighted down the barrel.
 
Maverick 88 if you want a cheap price. 590 if you got deeper pockets.
While the 20ga doesn't offer flight control buckshot loads that I'm aware of. A 20ga is still very capable with slugs and #2 or #3 buck
