I bought a 20 guage bolt action for potting grouse on logging roads-but chose the 20 over a 410 because I can carry a couple of slugs in my pocket in case I see a deer.Its got a poly choke and a notch on the reciever ring so that should fascilitate shooting a slug.I haven't actually patterned it yet-just picked up a couple of 5 packs of regular smooth bore slugs.I'd be interested in finding out what slugs work best in a smooth bore-and the ''effective '' range to shoot within
