20 ga slug guns

I have several rifled slug guns including 3 H&R (1 in 12ga and 2 20ga) and so far Accutips appears to be most accurate and Federal Trophy copper comes a close second.

I took a doe last season at 230 yards (ranged before the shot) with 2.75" Accutips from my A-bolt slug even my buddy said he couldn't believe it if he is not there witness the shot.

Some people mentioned SST shoots well but none of my 5 five guns can shoot it good enough at 100s and even one of my friend complaining the SST shots a nice "pattern" at 100s from his SX3 not group lol and all guns are full rifled bore NOT rifled choke.

Mirrors my slugger exactly.
Keep that barrel spotless, and you'll get some tight groups.
FYI. Get some trigger work done.
She's a long tuff pull the whole way threw.

I am looking to get a H&R Ultra slug hunter.... If and when I find one what is the brand of slug that flys the best?

Define the "Best" what are your intentions of use?
There are lots of questions to determine what one is looking for.
Start with some Federal or Remington's and go from there.
Good Premium ammo will work well in most guns.
At least that has worked for me in any of the Remington Pumps and the 1100 I have owned .
Small paper plate at 50 yards all day long....well till the shoulder became tender that is.
We do not have a dedicated Slug Gun Season in BC so no need to have a snipe shotgun.

SX3 is back bored, unless it’s a rifled barrel I wouldn’t expect slugs to pattern at all. That’s my experience with slugs from both my guns with Invector plus barrels anyways. I’m surprised a dedicated rifled barrel wouldn’t group up.

I bought a fully rifled 20ga SX3 a few years ago to replace the 12ga 870 I was using prior to that. It was very finicky about what slugs would group at all. I went through $200+ worth of slugs and even gave up the first day as nothing would group. The accutips were the last ones I tried the next day and very relieved that they tightened everything up exponentially. My shoulder appreciated it to.

Similar issue using the 26” bird barrel with foster slugs. Shooting off a rest getting minute of soccer ball at 50 yards wasn’t good enough. My M31 from 1934 put slugs in the same hole at 50 yards no problem. After that I didn’t bother with the SX3 for this purpose.

I found Federal Premium Vital-Shock TruBall to be best, followed by Remington Slugger. Both around 1600fps. I think I tried another brand but the group wasn’t as tight.

I had an H&R Ultra Slug Hunter in 12ga ... with a very heavy duty rifled barrel ... and I tested many different sabot slugs out of it ... and in the process spend a little fortune on different sabots.

The best I ever got out of that gun was with Remington Accutips .... but I only got a 4 inch group at 100 meters.
As a result I sold that gun ....

I had an H&R ultra slug hunter in 20g. Tried a bunch and found the hornedy SST Sabots flew the best with pretty good groupings at 100
