20 gauge 870 parts?

A thread in general got me thinking this morning, I'd like to know if there is any availability of parts for an 870 I have. I bought a 20 gauge "Sportsman Field" for my son to shoot, and I'd like to find a shorter barrel to swap onto it. It has a 26", but I'd like to find maybe a 20-ish inch barrel for him to use on our home range, as well as maybe a tube extension.

Any insight would be appreciated, I haven't had any luck searching on my own.
 
Always hard to find just what you're looking for, unfortunately. Western Gun Parts in Canada, and Numrich out of the US. Worth checking with Casey at Tactical Ordnance (Canada) as well.

Your 26" barrel is a good candidate to shorten to 20" yourself if you don't need the longer barrel.

You could have the cut down barrel threaded for chokes. It's a pretty simple job. I am looking to go from 12.5" to something longer so that option isn't available to me.
 
Remington makes/made a 21" Vent Rib, 20ga barrel for their youth model, it's threaded for REMCHOKE.

As an option, you could look at an older 20ga, smoothbore Wingmaster slug barrel. Would be fine for slugs or shot. Avoid the more readily available 20ga rifled barrels.

I think the older slug barrel (polish blue/rifle sights^) would be the best option personally, though the finish would differ from the new Sportsman. If it matters, I'm not sure the 21" is a great barrel for wingshooting/clays, or at least not in my hands. I literally have better luck with the shorter smoothbore slug barrel. lol
 
I would check with Gravel Agency. Last year Nov/Dec they were setting up their computer systems and to take orders again for Remington parts and with the new Remarms company. Maybe they are ready now to take orders .... it has been a couple of months since I checked with them.

I cut the barrel on my 12 gage and had Casey at Tacord thread it for chokes. give him a call, I'm sure he can help.
 
I can’t help with the barrel. Carlson and Mossberg don’t appear to make 20 ga for the 870. You’re most likely stuck looking for used or wait until Remington starts to resupply the parts market again.

As for magazine extensions, TacOrd lists a 20ga ext for the 870 on their website.
