Ruger30-06
The 20ga works great for ducks and geese as long as your shots are inside 35 yards , I have a harder time finding #2 and #3shot sizes for the 20. The Kent faststeel is really good and will surprise you what a 20 can do.
Give it a try.
My wife uses a Remington 870 in 20 gauge for ducks, no worries... Just get steel shells doing 1550 fps or close to it. Remember, with steel, it's the speed that kills...
the 20 ga. is perfect for people who require it especially on an appropriate size frame. i've seen too damn many people walk away from shooting alltogether because they couldn't handle a 12 gauge.inside 35 yds. it's fine.
My boy's using 20 gauge 3" Fasteel with decent results. I'll wean him off the 20 and onto 3" 12s the second he's ready though. It's bad enough we have to use steel, without making it worse with sub gauges.
a 20 ga. with a 2 3/4 in.chamber would easily have enough #4 steel pellets out to 30 yds. for waterfowl. a 1 oz. payload of #4 steel would have roughly the same # of pellets a #6 lead.
