Looking to pick up a semi for the wife to take up Trap shooting in the spring. Been doing lots of research but wouldn’t mind some feedback from those that actually own one of the following models and can impart some wisdom. So far, I’m looking at the Weatherby SA08, the Mossberg SA-20( which I understand are almost identical) and the Stoeger 3020. The Stoeger seems to get mixed reviews so any real world experience with it would be appreciated. I’ve also seen a Tristar Raptor for a decent price, it actually looks great but I have absolutely no knowledge of the brand? If there is anything else I should look at feel free to throw it in the mix. Thanks in advance

PS- this will not be a high volume shooter, I’m thinking she may shoot a thousand rounds a year not 5000 just to clarify

A used REM 1100
Unfortunately weight is an issue. She has a badly messed up lower back so I’m looking for something modern, synthetic and light. I had the opportunity to try a friends 1100 in 12 gauge this year and it was pretty darn heavy. Excellent to shoot, but if there is anything 20 is like the 12 probably a bit heavy for her

Can not go wrong with this recommendation.
The reason they are heavier is they use real mental in their guns and a dense wood.
One can get synthetic stocks for them, thus lightening them up some also there was a time they had the 20 gauge on. a12 gauge frame.
This was corrected and a scaled down 20 was the result.
Reliable om Fraser St has a Skeet version in the used rack right now.
And Rubber/vitron/nitron gas 0-rings can be found at your local hydraulic shop too.

FWIW the SA08 is supposed to be very good. A friend has a 12g Tactical sort of deal and it's very reliable. I nearly bought one in 20g to start a project I have been pondering but I am impatiently waiting for new 11-87s to be made instead. I really don't want to screw around with any more Turkish crap, which may cover the Weatherby if my luck is no good. I may be waiting a while...

Somebody sells the rings in EE also

I had a Charles Daly semi auto in 20ga. Synthetic with 26" barrel. Very light and nimble gun. Was just over $300 new plus tax. Very soft shooting gun. Was flawless while I had it. Sold it to a buddy for his kid as I used my a400 alot
