A buddy had this old Gevarm sitting in a safe.. he didn't have a magazine for it so I took it to see what I could find. When I told him what it would cost, he wasn't interested. So, I asked what he would take for it. He offered it to me for 20 bucks, it was pretty rough but I took it off his hands. I decided to make it a project. I blued it and gave it a Western Look. Now, I just need to find some magazines and see if it actually functions

Nice. I paid $50 for mine from a friend. Finally found a clip for it for $90. Apparently the clip oon the Gevarm is notorious for falling out and getting lost. I'd suggest silver soldering a small ring onto the bottom of the clip, running a line from the ring to the stock of the rifle. It's a sweet little shooter. No misfires with that built in firing face on the bolt. Open bolt firing takes some getting used to though. Congratulations on your new baby.

use black krinkle stove pain and heat the receiver before painting. This should give it a close to factory finish. If you didn't sand it down it would have worked better. A british armour told me about this for re-doing sterling 9mm smg's and it works great because it blends with the original finish. Since gevarms are finished the same way it should work. But, you have to get the heat right to make the paint krinkel..

Do a search for Gevarm, there was a post a few months ago where a member (I think Mastif..??) found a guy in the states re-poping mags for $75 ish (if memory serves).

I love my E-1 (thats the model you have there) I'm always looking for another, at the right price. Whenever I find them, its usually $100 with out the mags (which I am unwilling to pay) and $300 with a mag (which I think is WAAAY to high). This is of course at the gun & hobby shows that come around every year. Thats about the only time I see them.

I am looking forward to seeing some pics of the E-1 when you get 'her finished! If I find a mag, I'll be sure to let you know.

Cheers!

Gevarm mag source.

There is a new Canadian source for Gevarm 8-rd magazines. They've been offering them at a US online auction for under $40 for several weeks now.

Western Gun Parts of Montreal has moved into new facilities and their website is being overhauled. They suggest you email them at: wgp@westerngunparts.com

Reactions I've hear from buyers is that they work fine.

An original 20-rd mag sold on that same auction site Sept. 6 for $199.00. WGP is working with the 8-rd maker to see if they can get 20s.

Personally, I'm still looking for an A3 and an A6 to come up for sale at a reasonable price.

Best regards ~ ~ ~ mauser :)
