20 guage SST for Elk???

Would a Hornady SST 250gn 20 guage slug be adequite for elk within 100 yards. The website says it still has 1200 ft/lbs of energy at that range?

With no problem. I seen moose taken down with a 100yard shot with a 20 gauge slug. I've done it lots of time with deer too...

More chance of the elk coming to within 100 yds. BUT can you see him? Getting close to elk is not really a problem, getting close and being able to see them is very,very difficult. Last year I heard more piss splashing on the ground then anyone should ever have to but never saw more then pieces of elk.

Think of elk as a crack pipe, just put it down, once you pick it up your hooked. Pretty soon your loosing weight, spending all your money, ignoring friends and family and denying you have a problem......

In Quebec, 20ga is illegal for moose but 243 is legal. Do you find this logical?
