2005 Duck season

Just curious how you guys are finding this season so far. For myself being a Southern Ontario guy, I have found the begining of the season on the slow side. I had a friend return from moose hunting on the weekend and he said he saw a ton of birds north of Armstrong, so I'm thinking with all this warm weather here that the birds haven't started to move down yet. I like warm weather, but I like hunting more so I would like to see things cool off a bit.
I have had success this year but I'm not seeing the numbers in the sky that I usually do.
Would like to hear about all of the country , not just Ont.

The daytime highs for the next week (starting Friday), are supposed to be in the low to mid teens. Hopefully that will get them moving. We were out near Grand Valley on Saturday and never saw a duck and only 2 flocks of geese. We did a little better on the opening Saturday and the Tuesday right after though.
 
Slow in North Bay also............


4 days of hunting got me 4 wood ducks, 6 mallards, a black duck and 2 geese. Not nearly as good as last year at this time. Good thing I sliuced 15 grouse on the logging roads to fill the gap. :lol: :lol:

I have spoken with a few guys from Kap who said its just starting to get good there so there's hope yet.

I shot at about 20 teals and didnt get a damn one, I gues they are there you just gotta bea able to hit'em. :cry:

Where do you hunt famous grouse? I'm up around Bobcaygeon.

Typical lull in the early season. Usually around mid Oct the duck migration should start. There are lots of migrant geese here already.
 
Been having a great year. More water around this year so the birds aren't as concentrated, but I've learned to hunt the areas I do quite effectivley. I'm on track to beat last year's season wqhich was my best ever.
 
Central Ont was good for us...

We've shot a few limits the few times we've gone out.

53 was going awesome early this year... :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
