Here's a few pics from our annual moose camp. We had another great year taking two bulls again and having a great time. Lots to drink, lots to eat, and lots to laugh about. We actually all have tags for bulls each year, but since we go to our same camp every year we limit ourselves to two bulls, in hopes that the next year there will still be some kicking around for us to take. A half a moose each is plenty considering we'll all probably take at least one deer, maybe two, with the occasional elk thrown in as well as a couple of caribou for myself. The camp has been on the go for 15 or 16 years now. This is the 10 year anniversary since the first time I went. It's a great place to go, and we have finally got a really great crew that gets along well and works together even better.

After they boys have been in the sauce for a while the antics start.........I'm only posting these because I know none of my partners are on here:D

This guy was first hit at a little over 400 lasered yards with a Mauser 66 in 9.3x64, and then finished with a 300 RUM that I bought off the board here.

We got him out of the bush but left him in the canoe for the night

I didn't get any field shots of the smaller moose because I wasn't in on the retrieval, I had the moose above calling and raking his antlers in the bush while two of the others gutted and quarted the smaller one. We didn't get the bigger of the two until the next day. The smaller one was taken with a Win 70 300 wsm that I bought off the board. The shot was 365 yards, one shot broad side with a Hornady interlock, took out both lungs, he was down in about 25 yards. I took three rifles to camp, the RUM and WSM I loaned to a couple of the guys and I hunted with my .338 Lapua. I told the guys that next year I'm bringing rifles for every body :D

bronco,

Two nice bulls, looks like a good time. When did you guys get back? From the looks of the pics you had some good weather.

We were up in Atikaki in Eastern MB and for the last three days of our hunt had 80km/h winds, snow, freezing rain, sleet, you name it we had it.

We were out second week of season. Made it into camp and had it all set up Saturday afternoon/evening. Two of the guys went for a hunt at the end of the day, while myself and the other guy stayed back to finish organizing everything. We had both the moose down by Tuesday evening, and left camp Wednesday afternoon. The temps were good, not much for rain, but it was really windy. Strong westerly winds blew the whole time we were in camp, except Monday evening when I had the bigger moose answering me, it was dead calm. Deffinately better weather than others had to put up with, but still not ideal if you like to call.

Whew.. I need a fan ,,, getting hot in here! :p LOL

Great pic's I thankyou very much for sharing :D Seriuosly, nice Moose ;)
