Posting this for my friend/hunting buddy. Unfortunatley I did not come along on this trip but hey, he got a nice moose, and some ptarmigan, lol.

I'm sure he'll chime in here and give you the whole story. Here is my play by play in pictures. The area is Northern BC.

Cheers,

Alex

p.s. I'll number the pics so he can describe it in point form for ya.

moose hunt

It is me on the photo that Alex posted for me, as my dvd drive died. It was a great trip in region 6 (BC) and we managed to bag two bulls for our camp of five people. It was not an easy trip - weather and country are pretty rough up there, but I enjoyed every minute of this hunt. We ( me and my hunting buddy Chris) hunted hard for the first four days and did not see a single moose - even a cow. We went like 40 km off roads on quads, still hunted, called and glassed for hours - zip. Came to camp soaked, muddy and cold and enjoyed comfort of the camp and good company of friends. But we saw several huge blackies and a big fat grizz. Lots of grouse and ptarmigans. Before our last day we split and I went on easy and comfy quad drive just for fun. And sure enough on the way to camp I saw a huge bull walking slowly across the road about 150 m from me. I was fast enough to get off the quad, load the gun, and empty my magazine into moose like I had a semi - not bolt. After third shot it went down. I could not believe my eyes when I saw WHAT I just shot - what a monster! Actually it is my second hunting season and was first moose hunt. It was any bull hunt and I shot it with 300WM with Wall Mart special 180 gr ammo, which actually performed very well - I found one bullet right under the skin on the opposite side of the entry point. Another one sank somewhere inside the the neck/chest area and the third one just scrached the chest - off hand shooting and lots of andrenaline shaking. After the shots fired, hard work started - I was lucky to shot the bull right on the road - it made it much easier. The spread is 53". Thanks for reading and congratulating. I am really happy and working on european mount (full skull) now. Special thanks to my hunting buddies (Chris, Joe, Rick, Lance and others) who helped me to handle this moose. :runaway:

Nice hunt... sounds like you had fun.

I'm heading up to NW Ontario tomorrow with my group for our annual hunt.

Definitely looking forward to it.
