2006 Ontario IPSC Provincials

I haven't heard anything, but Peterborough has a good club w/ new ranges
built.
I think they could do it. so I invite them to consider it, as no one eslse yet has.

The new ranges will not be completed in time for this year, as there is a quite a large expansion going on. We just recently got IPSC sanctioning and do not have the experience to host a match of this magnitude as of yet. Hopefully in a couple of years, we can host the Provincials. Thanks for thinking of us though.

It looks like a hockey lock out scenerio for the provincials this year ?

if no one is ready for a level 3 this year, maybe 2 clubs (w/in reasonable distance to each other) can offer to do 6 stages each ? ?
Waterloo / Guelph / Galt
or Sharon / Haliburton
or Cornwall / Grenville / E.O.H.C.
or Oxford / EESA / Guelph
? or is it a dumb Idea ?

We asked for submissions in the last copy Sitrep...any club that is interested can apply.

Shouldn't be long before we can post the location...

Cheers

I want EESA to get more L2s under our belts before we tackle the Provincials.

If we put 3 stages on each of our ranges we can put on a show with 12 stages. We would need to build a small pit/range for a chrono stage.

One plan tha azone and I have discussed is to have it a joint EESA/Oxford match...........who knows maybe in a few years. Under that senario we could easily put on the nationals!!

12 stages plus chrono at EESA.
9 stages at Oxford.

21 plus chrono would be a nice Nationals.

Does any one know of the dates for the provincals I need to book time off !!
And Yes we are going to have the Provincals at Peterborough just as soon as we are ready. It will be a dream come true for some of us. Also it is part of the overall 5 year plan.

So I need dates for the Provincals

Thanks TAC

Colt45gunner that is definately not a dumb idea

I remember a Provincial about 5 or 6 years ago that had 14 or 16 stages of which, only 2 or 3 were any good, the rest just had lots of targets to get the round count up too. We were shooting until from 9 AM to 7 PM, after our squad went out for dinner, we all were hot, tired and hungry and we all agreed we didn’t really enjoy it. I believe most of the people I shot with skipped the next couple of provincials because of that experience.

Don't get too worked up about the number of Stages. The best matches I ever shot were the Aware Invitational (in Albany. NY) and they never had more than 10 stages. Quality beats quantity every time. This match always sold out 8 months in advance because of its reputation.

I would also like to suggest for the Provincial, early June would be a better time than the July long weekend. Many shooters have family obligations and half to decide on shooting the match or the weekend at the cottage/campground with the kids. Not to mention that everyone is off at that time so traffic and motel’s tend to be a real problem.

I have to agree, the AWARE is a fantastic match; I shot it two years ago, and was squadded with Sevigny (fun to watch, and very humbling). They had some wild stages, all with movie themes, and some of them really made you think.

Hey TAC,

Traditionally (in the most recent of years), provincials are held Canada Day weekend. So I believe the match should be slated for Friday, June 30th to Sunday, July 2nd.

But that is nothing official.

I cannot blame clubs for being "burned out". There tends to be very few people willing to work, but lots willing to shoot. We cancelled our "early season" Level 2 of the year due to lack of committment for help from our membership.

Cotl45gunner, I think a multi-venue Provincials would be an ideal solution to the lack of help at a single club.

I think it is quite sad that our sport is in this predicament... going on February and no venue set for the Provincials.

I would love to see the Provincials in Peterborough... I haven't been to the "Pig's Ear" since my college days.

Hopefully in the future.

Relax guys...things are under way and an anouncement will be out in short order

EOHC will not be the Provincials but it is nice to see a Level 3 so early in the season ... and I'm told it's all run and gun :D

I'm guessing it will fill up fast so I'd suggest signing up as soon as the match listing comes out

Hey Thanks guys I booked some time off and it doesn't matter when cause I will be going to the Provincials anyways! You don't want to miss that match and this goes for all the new Black Badge people don't think that you are not ready to shoot the Provincials because you are. Trust me It is why I missed my first one and I was wrong SO GO !
