200gr bullet in a 308

Maybe, but what's that got to do with 200 grain bullets in a .308? snicker.
2400ish with a 200 is typical of max loads out of a 24" barrel according to Hodgdon. CFE 223 and BL-C(2) give a bit over 2500(almost 2600 with the CFE 223) with max loads out of the 24" barrel. Your long barrel should give higher velocities with the same loads.

hmmm.... I've made hits out to 1200m with 168gr and 178gr A-Max and SMK's with a 24, 26 and 28 inch barrelled rifle. I'd like to do some rainbow tries out to 1600m. Why the extra weight?

I loved shooting my 208 AMAX thru my 308. Time of flight was ridiculous, like 2.5 seconds from bang to "ding!" Always cracked me up everytime.

I have some good videos of shooting at 1000 yard. I swear if ur fast enough u could pull the trigger and get behind the spoting scope before you hear the impact. Maybe not but probably pretty damn close

Yeah I'm going to push them a little faster that was my starting load and it worked good so I just kept using it.

If you are using a standard 308 Win chamber and standard length barrels, you might be doing all that it wants or can do SAFELY. FTR guns are set up for very long throats and we can do things that simply don't make sense in a standard 308 Chamber.

Think of FTR as 308 Win magnums.

as for 200grs, very common nowadays in LR FTR. Heavier is also getting more common.

I'm using a 30" benchmark barrel chambered for VLD bullets. But still I would rather be a little under then a little over the safety margin

Relax Sally. You didn't mention anything about hunting when you started this thread.

I guess I just think everyone can read my mind. The 200gr has a definite advantage as far as energy at longer ranges. I don't want to get to far into this because I have no intent to start another ridiculous long range hunting debate about people skill or comfort level and ethics.
