Hey fellas!
I been gifted some TSX which a bloke used for his 358win but wasn't happy with the velocity he was getting. anywho he gave them to me.

So im going to use Varget an load up these 200gr TSX bullets.. im using 225gr Woodleighs at the moment..

Is varget guna be all good for these an whats some info/tips you guys can give me in regards to this setup?
rifle is a 22in ruger hawkeye
Thanks

Have you tried RL-15? That powder seems to be the perfect match for the 35 Whelen, giving top velocities...despite what a lot of current published info is stating. And accuracy wise it's spectacular in my Rem 700 Classic...although, to be fair, I haven't tried the 200gr TSX in it yet.

I just looked, Barnes does not list Varget in their loads. Win 748, H4895, Vit N140, RL 15, IMR 4895 & 4064 max velocity is between 2700 & 2800fps. Try calling barnes for info on Varget maybe?
If you want the Barnes reloading page PM me with your E-mail and I will scan and send...love my 35 Whelen, shes a thumper

Nah ive seen data with Varget AKA AR2208 , 2208 is one of the go to powders down here for the Whelen from 180 to 250gr.

I use 225 Woodleigh with 2208 for just under 2500fps, figure with 200gr il be able to get a little more speed.
will load up an see how I go. was looking for experiences

Looking on Barnes site for load data for the 200gr tsx, I see there max is 60gr of 4064 for 2800fps with a 24 inch barell..

With a 22 inch barell id be expecting 2700fps for max charge of AR2208/Varget/4064.... that's about right yeah?

Fairly happy with that an will certainly work up a load in the higher end of the charge weight.
