This year is the 150th Anniversary of the NRA-Great Britain, and the DCRA (Dominion of Canada Rifle Association) and the PPRA (Prairie Provinces Rifle Association) both have teams en route to compete in the 2010 Imperial Meeting.

Our Canadian shooters will be arriving over the next several days, and will be squaring off against over 1,650 other competitors (!) from around the world, in matches ranging from 300 to 1,000 yards.

I hope to be posting photos, stats, and other tidbits regularly... keep watching this space!

Some photos from today...

The MacDonald Stewart Pavilion, home away from home for the Canadian team shooters. Also known as Canada House.

Don't bother bringing your parrot, there's one already here.

Today's pictures...

The 1200-yard firing point, the targets are down there if you squint. :D

Had three matches today at 1000 yards/1100 yards/1200 yards. Getting my first V bulls at 1100 and 1200 yards with iron sights is something I will never forget!

Tomorrow a portion of the Canadian team is travelling to Wales to shoot against the Welsh national team. We'll also be visiting a castle or two, so will definitely get some pics then.

Good on you for shooting the Match Rifle events. Hope you are continuing to shoot well, now that the Grand Agg is well underway. Good luck to you and to the rest of the Canadians!

I sure wish I was back there again this year. A pint on the porch of Canada house, w/ Zippy pushing the ball at you. Things could be much worse!!!

Good luck to everybody.

Now I have to ask - who is Zippy, and what is this "pushing the ball at you"?

I've never shot at Bisley but I did visit the place once, and now really "get" what the big deal is about it.

Zippy is the springer spaniel who belongs to Gary and Julia, the operators of the Pavillion . He's constantly trying to goad somebody to throw the ball for him, but you have to be quick- he likes to make a grab for the ball just as you do!

I see Ray Smeltzer cleaned the Donnegal w/ a 50.10v, along w/ 3 others.

Sorry about the lack of pictures lately, it's been non-stop shooting around here. Ray has been on fire all week, he is on the leaderboard for the Grand Aggregate! as well as Jim Paton.

And yes, you guys have GOT to try Match Rifle! It was awesome shooting at 1100 and 1200 yards, I have been talking to the Brit and Scots about sending over a few teams for an Invitation Match Rifle Shoot so we can get this discipline going in Canada.

Good luck to you and the rest of the team. Please do keep posting the pictures.

Now that it was mentioned, I too would like nothing better than to be sitting on the porch after a good day of shooting with a nice Lager.

Bisley sure is a magical place for us shooters, words can't describe it. I'm very happy for all the folks making their first trip to Bisley.

Say Hi to the rest of the team, we're watching the scores closely.
