Tying steelhead flies has already gotten old and I won't hit the ice on Superior until Sunday for whitefish so I thought I'd pass some time with some pics from this past season's hunt. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing. No doubt one of your top "happy places" in life. Congratulations on a fine buck and your choice of what just might be the best whitetail rifle in the world.
 
Canvas tent, peep sighted 7600, cooking over open fire, big bucks. Ontario rocks with this kind of tradition. My congrats on a fine hunt and thankyou for sharing. I almost forgot to mention the Malone pattern mackinaws, perfection!

Thanks for the kind words gents. This hunt was a long time in the making. While we were all in University we used to hunt out of a cabin on the Manitoba border. Now that we've all flown the coop, we decided some more spice was in order. Hunting out of the tent camp, walking to our stands everyday and exploring new territory was exactly what we needed. Except for some of my memories toting a 30-30 through the bush around Bancroft, or a smoothbore in Prince Edward County (yup....a converted Toronto Boy) for a week in December while in High School, this is the hunt that I shall remember with the most fondness.

I don't mean to ghey this up, but what wool pants are those? Dig the old school Kaufmann's in the tenderloin shot, too - I have a pair that are still going strong after 30 years.
 
The pants are Woolrich Malones. They are cut a bit wide in the legs and sit a bit high on the waist- they go great with the Woolrich jacket.

We were hunting west of Town here. If it got back to the clan that I had said anymore than that, well, one of those paddling traditions might be brought out of retirement.;)

It was indeed Forty Creek in the pantry. Ever since it came out, a bottle has been coming to deer camp with us.

The boots are Dad's old Sorels. And you're probably not too far off with the age. I bet those boots are older than me. I remember him wearing them ice fishing when I was just a pup-and they were old then.
