I haven't been on here as much as usual so maybe I missed a thread about it, if not, thier doesn't seem to be much hype about Savage offering 6 different rifles chambered in .260rem for 2011. All of these with the new barrel nut, nicer bolt release, lapua .260brass, ...you'd think most .260 aficionados would be all over these.

Am I the only one who is excited about this, and planning on getting one?

Not sure yet what model, but it looks like it might be a plain jane 11 FCNS for me... or maybe I'll add another SS rifle to my arsenal and go with the 16 FCSS, either way, I'm buying.

Any CGN dealers have these models on order? send me a PM with pricing, and ETA please.

quick questions:
Are accustock models a drop-in fit into aftermarket stocks, wood (american classic type), or one of the older (non accustock) oem savage stocks?

Well I was very interested in the light weight hunter in 260 5.5lb with a wood stock, it looked like it was going to be about $900 with no real good feel as to when it would really be available
I opted for the Rem model 7 260 with synthetic stock it should be available spring time hopefully. I could still go the Savage route if they become available as I put some money down and could use the downpayment for what ever I choose at the store that I bought it at.

i just ordered a weather warrior model 16 fcss..accustock and accutrigger in .243 cal ..should receive it soon [i hope] McComber Archery ordered it for me ..this spring i will be busy sighting it in at RUISSEAU NOIR ..

The 2011 catalog shows them, but only notes the LRPV as a new model. But none seem to be in the 2010 catalog. So, not sure when they introduced them. They all seem to be in 1-8 twist so will handle the 140 grain Berger VLD's. The only fly in the ointment is that they are in the short action models. Quite possible you can't get the VLD type of bullets out to the lands and still fit them in the magazine.

Savage bolt rifle in .260 Rem....

I'd be interested in getting one.

NAA.

I think this would be great too, where did you find this out,I couldn't see anything on their website?

go to--- savage website --- firearms --- gun finder --- caliber --- 260 rem

It should then list 6 models available in .260 rem, all new offerings in that caliber for 2011.

probably see them around $1020-1100, good value considering the components (HS stock, 6oz Trigger)

should make a great LR plinker

Why not? It seems like a very well balanced cartridge.

probably not as well balanced as the 260 Rem, since the 6.5-284 has a reputation of short barrel life. 800-1000 rounds according to what I've read before accuracy begins to degrade. :( 2000 or so for a 260

not worth it for the extra 150 fps, to me at least :)
