Was wondering how our turkey hunters made out this year.... This was my first year going out for big birds and I wasn't sure how they would taste... I never shoot anything I don't eat (except yotes) and so stupidly enough I only filled one of my spring tags..... by teh time I roasted him up it was too late... season over...

Then... mysteriously enough when I had my one fall tag the damn birds dissappeared.... we had one frosty morning here in October and I was finally able to locate a roost and some trails to setup on.... I bagged this one on October 23rd.... nic of time.....

lol we know how it feels, they sure like hiding once season starts. I didn't go in spring this year but dad and a few buds did, usually didn't see them or were too far. Meanwhile all year long there's flocks of 20-60 of them on the guys' farm. While bow hunting for deer last month no turkeys showed up to us again. Last week during rifle season for deer everyday (except Tuesday) there was a group of 21 hens and 2 toms underneath our stands for hours. I even tried to shoo off the 2 toms who were eating about 7 yards from me by yelling at them and they didn't care. Kind of like last year a week after fall season ended I had a huge tom 2 yards from me while I camped in the bush, I could've knifed the bastard :bangHead:

Kind of tough to say "I bagged this one on October 24th.... nic of time...."

when the season closed on the 23rd.

I am almost guaranteed to get my wild turkey next year.I raised 4 of them and there turned out to be 3 hens and a tom. They never actually get used to people being around.I had to catch them in the dark to move them to their winter pen.
