Now I know why I didn't see any of those animals, when I was there. They hide in a different kind of outback. Nice fallow deer there WL. What would that of weighed? approx.

Yeah they are exciting in the Rut, calling them in, rattling antlers etc, its up close an personal stuff, for me anyway.

This year they havnt quite got into full rut yet, We had a cold snap, followed by a week of heat an then another cold snap, this weekend seems to have them getting into it.

Scrapes havnt been worked as hard as previous years, weather its just early or not i dunno...
Croaking or Grunting has been very minimal in my area, quite opposite to previous years also.

After missing a big black fallow, i was stoked to sneak into this guys area an find him holding 8 Does/hinds, initially i was going to photograph the hinds but when i noticed this guy feeding, a quick change of Camera for Remington, DRT.

Heres a few other photos from on the hunt.

Yeah mate, Most of the deer are down the Eastern Side, although that Varies from wide open humid weather, down to the Snowy Mountains of the south, everything in between...

im in the South East of Aus..... plenty of deer around.

As for weight, only guessing but less than 150kg id rekon.

cheers

Wow 300+ lbs. That will make for some ripper barbie's! Its been yonks since I was there. Hope you had a mate or two to help pack it out. been a while since I talked the lingo. Worked in a welding shop to pay for a new combi engine.
cheers mate

WL, thats an outstanding Stag.
The feral ones transplanted here are not near a Huge as they are there.
Dam, they are tasty and I certainly miss then tender sweet meat.
Thanks for Sharing some Down Under Hunting.

No Worries, I enjoy reading about the Canadian hunts, especially bigger game, So I try give back now an then when i have success on the hunt!

Yeah dont worry the good bucks are few an far between in my area... I 'hunt' alot an shoot a little.... Typically big Cleft palms in the area which arnt too cool in the Fallow world.

Last years buck went 208DS, I have a feeling this guy will top that but is a little lesser on the palms so optically not as pleasing but thats Fallow for ya, no 2 bucks are the same, gota love the Spellers!

Cheers
