162g Hornady SST out of my 7rem mag at 2980FPS MV. Bullet weighs 95g. Was found against the hide on the far side, probably my second shot at 75yards. First shot at 150 yards passed out the far side.
Both were broad side lung shots.

This deer I shot on a hot chase. It was in a full run as the dog was only 75 yrds behind. Four shots at 60 yrds through med thickness of trees and I hit him in the throat.

I thought I was going to have one to post one here. Yesterday was the last day of the season. With the wind chill it was -41 C. My buddy and I spent 3 hours walking through his standing corn field chasing the buck that we've been chasing all week. He's big.... and fast! We were able to get within shooting range twice, but never able to get a shot off before he was gone. I'm ashamed to say that I actually crept to within 50 yards, saw his antlers, saw his face, shouldered my gun, and before I could find him in my scope, he was gone!

As long as the coyotes and old man winter don't get him, he'll be back next year.

By the way, btridge, nice deer!

I took a nice 130 lb doe this past thursday morning with a .50 cal Traditions Buckstalker I had purchesed the week before from a member here on the EE. This is my first deer with a muzzle loader. I shot her across a corn field at about 70 yards with open sights. Between the rifle season at our camp near Griffith On and the shotgun and muzzle loader seasons in the land we hunt around here , our gang got 8 deer this year, 6 bucks and 2 does. We are all very happy with the results and lots of meat in the freezer.

Thanks, He's not my biggest, but was way to nice to pass on... it's the opportunity that puts the smile on my face, not always the kill, good luck in finishing next year...
