Hey, I just picked up a box of 1200 of the 2014 production Norinco "white box" 7.62x39 non-corrosive ammo 122gr. What can you guys tell me about this ammo accuracy, reliability and cleanliness wise? I bought it to shoot in my Russian SKS and wanted to avoid corrosive stuff. What type of cleaning will I have to perform after shooting this stuff? Is it steel shells and lead FMJ bullets, are the bullets coated with anything?

a buddy of mine just picked some of that up and he told me he helped someone at the store pull a bullet and it steel core - it has a mild steel core. don't shoot the messinger. I'll bet it shoots good but I have always been inclined to treat all 762x39 as if it's corrosive. as we discussed in another post some of us have bought Norinco 762x39 and that includes me and it said non corrosive and I ended up with some rust . but I caught it in time .
I've shot just over a case now and every round has gone bang. Ran them through a couple different SKS's. Zero rust issues. I've been mainly shooting at steel 100+ yards so I can't comment on how tight of groups you can get. The bullets are copper washed steel core.

Great stuff gone through more than a crate. Not one FTF and due to a busy life I have left my rifle uncleaned for weeks and not once has there been rust. I think it is pretty safe that any new production and commercially packaged ammo like the silver box, White Box, and I think yellow box(cant remember) have all been non-corrosive. I have been very impressed with the white box reliability and for my shooting style as accurate as any good surplus. I find the bullets are well seated in the white box verses others like LCW.

Is it head stamped CJ? Ive read that everything that came out of Jia Ling Light Industry Corp. (CJ) had non-corrosive primers.
