2014 Western Canada F-Class Championships

Hi Jeff

Bring everything and a table to setup by the washrooms.

Also, we are planning to restrict cars away from the back of the range and make that area a staging area for the various shooters because we are only shooting at 600 meters and there isn't a whole bunch of room up on the berm.

are there spectators allowed? I would love to come and check out the competition, it looks like a lot of fun, and a lot of cool rigs. I would love to enter but I don't think my Mossberg mvp with a tasco on top would do that great against the other stuff out there lol... maybe next year I could enter, I would love to check it out and get a good idea of what to expect if I do enter next year when I get a different rifle and scope lol...

No problem. If you stay later during the day and ask a couple of people about their rifles then I am sure they will let you shoot them. If you come Thursday about noon'ish and ask for me, you can shoot mine for a while. We will be practising then.

Given the forecast for rain, I am bringing down a small pop up awning. I will have pegs but extra ropes and hammers would be good.

More cover the better me thinks.

triple tap, when we are finished sight in on Thursday, you can certainly take a few shots with my rifle too.

Well my offer was too the match organizers for setup. Im not sure where one would setup what you are describing? As there is really limited space on the 600m point. As well i dont think you are allowed to shoot from under cover in this event like TR at most ranges. But one will have to check with the match director.

As long as everyone is under the cover, and no one is at a disadvantage, everyone can shoot from under a cover. A single competitor can not have a cover protecting him from the environment unless everyone else has the same protection, in fact, an ISSF 60 shot match is to be shot from under a covered firing point. The DCRA had the army elect one for the ISSF 60 when I was at the CFRC in 2009.

In addition to a tricky course of fire when I shot here in the past, was my glasses fogging up. If you do have glasses, or you should have safety glasses, have an appropriate cloth to clear them, and perhaps some anti-fog spray. Don't prop your head up after a shot and exhale on your scope because the next time you dip your head for a shot, you can't see!!

Good luck to the competitors!!!

Congrats to the winners of the PGW Westerns in Chilliwack. Both Glen T and Steve B shot very well for their deserved wins. And both used PGW Coyote rifles!!!

The top 3 in both divisions were very close races with Open being won on V count, FTR by just a few points. Dave H and Richard D shot great and were certainly pushing for the lead.

A big thumbs to Cassidy C for taking 3rd in FTR. A junior who shot wonderfully and kept improving with each relay and day.

There was a large junior contingent who all shot very well and showed great maturity despite few matches under their belt. They are on a steep learning curve and are handling the challenges exceptional well. Will not be long before they will competing as peers.... a very good thing.

Congrats to the Dutch Rudders for another team win.

It was a well run event despite the rains. The Banquet was also fantastic. To all that worked tirelessly to organise, run and maintain the event, a HUGE THANK YOU!

If you are thinking that 600m is only short range and not all the much of a challenge, I think you will be very surprised at Volkes. Yes, you never added more then a 1 1/2 min on the scope this weekend, but you never stopped moving around the target in both windage AND elevation. Conditions were very tricky and changed very fast.

I had a great time, learnt ALOT and look forward to next years match.

Hope everyone gets home safe and continued success for the rest of the season.

Jerry

that sucks that I couldn't make it out to the range and talk to everyone and see what its all about... I ended up coming out on Thursday, but 20 min after I got there it started raining and everyone started to pack up :( (just my sort of luck lol...) im really bummed out that I didn't get time to come out on any other days... next year ill make sure ill have more time to plan and make sure everything will work out.

the short time I was at the range, I seen how well set up it is and how much fun it would be to go and shoot there. Is it possible to get a membership at this range?
