We are back this year with a slightly different format for service rifle in that we will be concentrating more on sniper and precision shooting courses of fire. First match goes ahead on April 19, 2015 at 11:00 sharp.

THERE IS A MATCH FEE OF $5.00. NON SGGC MEMBER GUESTS ARE WELCOME. THE DAY PASS FEE IS $10.00

This match will involve 5 stages at ranges from 100 to 300 yards with a total round count of 40.

ANY RIFLE ANY SIGHT IS PERMITTED (with the exception of 460 Weatherby and .50 BMG) It is strongly suggested that an optic be used.

There will be NO sighters.

Stage 1 @100
5 rounds in 3 minutes, tightest group

Stage 2 @ 100
10 rounds in 3 minutes at 3/4 MOA dots. 1 round per dot. Only dots hit will be counted

Stage 3 @ 200
5 rounds in 3 minutes, tightest group

Stage 4 @ 200
10 rounds in 90 seconds on a figure 14 (Hun's head) target

Stage 5 @ 300
2 rounds in 5 seconds at a 3/4 MOA (2") circle. X 5 for 10 rounds. Only hits on the circles will count

Fee free?

Also, what if you're not a member at SGGC?

Additionally, how is Dave? Haven't seen him in awhile.

Thanks for the reminder. Match fee is $5.00 and non member guests day pass is $10.00.

Like you I haven't seen Dave in a while. He is getting ready for his move to N.S. this summer. I expect to see him at the shoot though.

This sounds like a lot of fun quick question I am assuming match will be shot prone are you allowed to shoot of a bag. Don't have my rifle set up for a bipod yet.

For now all matches are from prone. In the future however be prepared for unique positions that will take a shooter out of the usual positions. As far as supports, you Bet. Bag, ruck sack, shooting sticks, improvised rest, anything you would normally CARRY into the field. No mechanical rests. Rear "sand socks" or bean bags are also allowed but no BUNNY EAR bags. The service rifle community around here is very sharing and if you don't have equipment usually someone else does and doesn't mind sharing.

That was fun. Hat-tip to Bill for putting the first match together. Maybe the next match can have some sitting/kneeling/standing, or shooting at different ranges in the same stage..... Lots of possibilities.

Thanks Alpheus, the shoots will get progressively harder and more challenging as the year goes on. Our goal is to provide a competition where shooters can experience shooting challenges that make them want to improve while not squashing their enthusiasm for our sport. Then again there will be challenges that will be humbling. :) Bottom line however, it absolutely will be fun. I'll post the next course of fire soon.
