Some info has started coming out about this years compition. They have changed the location to marksmanship training center (MTC) near Lake city Michigan. Looks like it will be held on sept 19-20.

The best place to keep up to date on info is to follow the facebook page.

MTC has over a 1000 yards and a Butts, so I
Could see movers happening this year.
This is MTC web site

Will try to keep this thread up to date too.

We will probably join you guys this year unless there is a PRS event around the same time.

Right now I don't see anything in the calendar, but I'm not seeing a date for the GAP Grind (which has been at the end of Aug. or Sept. the last couple years)

Sounds good Kris. That would make at least 5 Canadians going. I thought the GAP was on labour day weekend.
MTC is starting to offer on site accommodations that we can look into as well.

Steve and I might be interested in going as well. Well I got to talk to him first about it but I think I can convince him. Still kicking myself for not going last year.

Was a great match last year. Good group of shooters. Every thing was shot on steel except for one match. A lot of positional shooting at different targets and ranges. Only down side was they could only run 2 relays and this slowed down the day. Believe they are addressing it better this year. They also had tons of prizes.

Interested. What was the match like last year?

What is the experience level of the guys involved. As a new guy I would love to go but I don't want to slow the day down or look like a total knob... what would be a recommended proficiency level?

The best way to get involved in any type of shooting is to go out and shoot a match. There will be people there who are really good, and there will be people who are totally new. The reality is, if you haven't shot a match before, there will be a learning curve. It doesn't matter how much you try and prepare the match, there will be one.

The key to being succeeding is to practice and to have good data to base your shots and corrections off of. Watch the videos in the FAQ sections of the Precision Rifle Series website, and you will get a good idea of what is involved in this type of match. Make notes about things you're not familiar with, then ask questions.

Can go as an individual or requires to have a couple (spotter)?
Do I have to fill out the custom form to permit to transport a firearm to US? I had to do that in the past.

Totally agree with this. If you have the fundamentals of shooting down, recoil managment, breathing, trigger control etc, you will catch on quickly. Every one is willing to help the new guys out because the olds guys were once new too.

MTC, great facilty! Owned by an ex marine. The range goes out to 1100 yds. I had the pleasure to take a course there last year. For those that'll compete there you wont be disappointed. The owner loves his chin ups! Theres a chin up bar by the shacks. BTW they a have a machine for movers.

Whats amazing is the range is right beside the highway, no burms to separate it.

This match is not affiliated with PRS. But, it will have many of the common US elements that we don't do up here.

You can find dozens/hundreds of matches in the US that are not affiliated with the PRS. There are fewer in the Northeastern states though due to population density (and liberal idiocy).

A few up dates have been coming out. The registration will open in a month or so. Looking like it is going to fill up quickly. (Make sure you add them to your facebook, this is how they are putting out all info)I will post on hear as well when it opens.
They are getting a long list of sponsors on board for this. Going to have at least 3 rifles on the table. This should be a great match to attend for any one from experienced shooters in this PRS style shooting to even the newby competition shooter.
Once we have the group of shooters registered I would like to put on a practice\ mini match to get everyone prepped. Send me a PM if you want in on this.

I was talking with one of the organizers today, he would love to have 8-10 Canadian coming down.

If you have any questions let me know.
