Well the day is almost here.:dancingbanana::dancingbanana: For my group of buddies its like lil kids waiting for Xmas morning. We load up trucks and trailers this afternoon and head out for 8 days to moose camp early tomorrow morning. My oldest boy (9) is coming out for 3 days and he has been talking about coming back out since he was out last year.

We are leaving a week later this year as one of my friends had meetings in Toronto and was upset he was going to miss camp so we decided to go later. From what I heard of a guy getting a bull by our hunting grounds this past Monday, the bull (3 year old) was full of fat and didn't stink, so therefore not in rut yet ...we should hit it bang on!!:rockOn:

By hopefully 2:00pm tomorrow camp is tub trailered in and set up, then get prepped for the first afternoon/evening hunt !! CANT WAIT !!

Will post story and pics upon our return. Hopefully same success as last year (3 bulls out of 4 tags filled).

Going to definitely help this year to fill the tags as 2 of my friends were laid off from their positions at work ...one in July and the other was in mid September...so meat will be a good thing. I will give them my share of the moose (except the tenderloin portion..:p) as I have a cow elk tag for Novemebr/December and it shouldn't be a problem as I know exactly where some of the herds will be by then in cold weather....my alfalfa fields.

Good Luck to the rest of you guys heading out !!

Good luck .wish u was coming with..hope to see lots of pictures and a great story .pay safe boys . Dutch

Are you Bow or Rifle hunting ? A friend that always goes to Alta. Said they changed the regs to bow hunting in some areas .

I get more than my fair share of hunting time in... But there's just something special about hitting the road on a moose hunt ;)
We leave for ours in a week (BC)

Good Luck, have fun !

He says it was changed to bow hunting around Peace River. Don"t know any other particulars. Just don"t want you guys to get roasted. Good Luck on your hunt!

I tried getting into a moose hunting group a couple of years after I got to AB. It didn't work well for me, since you had to wait for someone to die, and they weren't practicing my style of hunting. I have since hunted pretty much alone or with a select few partners. I have a partner when I go elk hunting and it was successful as a hunt, as it was a social activity.
Last year a large group went to GP area for a week. It was impromptu, but very fun and successful. Several elk and mule deer, but, more so, lots of socializing. It was awesome. Not sure what this November holds, though.
