GA Precision and Bushnell Tactical proudly announce the 2016 “GAP Grind/Bushnell PRO/AM”. In association with The Precision Rifle Series, this year’s match format will be a Professional/Amateur (PRO/AM) Team Match to promote sportsmanship and welcome new shooters to the competition scene. Top competitors, new competitors and everyone in between from around the country are invited to attend. The match will be hosted by K&M Precision Rifle Training at the K&M Shooting Complex in Finger, TN.

The competition will be a high tempo match with minimal “down time” between stages. Competitors can expect 20 plus stages throughout the weekend. The course of fire will test and train disciplines from across law enforcement, military and practical marksman spectrums. Competitors can expect engagements at an assortment of steel, reactive, paper and automated moving targets to 1200yds. Targets size will vary in difficulty based on the shooters position, distance and time allotted. Most stages will include “stressors”, either time and/or movement. All scoring will be transparent, balanced and fall within strict guidelines in order to reward the most consistent shooters/teams. The competition will require 200 rounds to complete the course of fire and is caliber restricted to 300 WinMag and below. The course of fire will be made public at the start of the competition on Friday at 3:00 pm.

Competitors will compete as individuals and as a team; scores will be maintained for both. Trophies will be awarded to the top 5 teams, top 5 professionals and to the top 5 amateurs. The format for Day 1 will be primarily focused on team work, but each team member will shoot the same course of fire. Scores for Day 1 will count toward team and amateur standings. Day 2 will be executed in a similar fashion but the professional shooter will always shoot first on each stage. Day 2 scores will be counted towards the professional, amateur and team scores. Only Day 2 scores will be applied toward the individual’s PRS score and will be counted toward the Precision Rifle Series standings. Utilizing this format we are able to keep the welcoming PRO/AM mentorship atmosphere and allow the Precision Rifle Series competitors to gain individual PRS points.

Guidelines

Consider yourself Professional if you have competed in national level competitions and have placed in the top 2/3rds consistently or have competed in regional or local matches and placed in the top 1/3rd.
Consider yourself an amateur if you have never competed, only competed in a handful of matches or have not placed higher than the bottom 1/3rd.

PRO shooters will receive PRS points for day two.

Please send the match directors (George Gardner: A10xrifle@aol.com or Shannon Kay: Shannon@KMPrecisionRifleTraining.com) an email if you are unsure which level to compete in. MDs reserve the right to DQ any teams that attempt to defraud the nature of the event by “stacking” their teams. Every attempt will be made to squad teams by shooter requests. Competitors are expected to assist and support their entire squad to truly make the match a group effort.

Guys, if you have been wanting to try PRS but are intimidated, this is the match for you. The intent of the match is to help new shooters. You don't need to have any match experience whatsoever to register as an AM. Every AM will be paired with a PRO and will get 1-on-1 instruction from the PRO on the train-up day (Friday). You will have the run of the whole front half of the facility (including movers). On Saturday, the AM and PRO will shoot as a team. On Sunday, they will shoot individually. However, once the PRO shoots, he will coach his AM through the stage, can give real-time wind calls and can spot for the AM. This in an opportunity to get instruction that would normally cost over $500 taking a course (which would not be 1-on-1).

Also, this match has an amazing prize table, and after the top 5 PROs go to it, they let ALL of the AMs go through in the order they placed before the rest or the PROs go.

If there is a reasonable size US airport close to you, look for deals on fairs. I think my flight to go to the CORE match in FL was something like $335 US return flying out of Buffalo, NY.

Small carriers out of Bellingham, otherwise it's drive to SeaTac...

Probably would have to fly out of SeaTac anyways; don't think the smaller carriers do firearms, and even if they do, they charge for oversize luggage :p
